Child Centered Therapy

"Play is the highest form of research," -Albert Einstein

The Association for Play Therapy defines play therapy as “the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained play therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.”

Play is the most important part of childhood, it is how children learn and communicate.  Play therapy is a therapeutic technique used with children ages 3-12 to help them express themselves in a non-threatening, playful way.   Just as adult use verbal language to "talk things out," children use toys and play to express themselves without words.

At Jennings Counseling Services we have a special play therapy room specially designed to provide play therapy sessions where children are able to express themselves through play.
